Crossword klutz:
A Person Who is Not Very Good at Solving or Completing Crossword Puzzles.

According to the Urban Dictionary, a crossword klutz is a newly-coined word that refers to people who are not very good at solving crossword puzzles. Like me, for example. I am a crossword klutz par excellence. In fact, I am a crossword klutz extraordinaire.
One of the first references we und for a crossword klutz was a blog post by Spin Lizzy, a 31 year old blogger. She wrote a letter to her newspaper one day, complaining of this and that,and signing her name as "Crossword Klutz."
So let's give credit to Spin Lizzy.

a 'tennessee gridder' is not an 'oiler' as you have indicated in tuesday's answer box. a 'tennessee gridder' might instead be a titan or a vol(unteer). but a 'tennessee gridder' has not been an oiler since the 1998 season of the national football league.
might i suggest instead for the clue: 'tennessee gridder, once' or 'former tennessee gridder.' had either of these been the clue, i might have figured out _ _ LER = OILER, thus finishing the puzzle.
will shortz would have NEVER made such a mistake.

crossword klutz
(noun) - A person, male or female, who is not very good at solving or completing crossword puzzles.
Example:
"Oh, I'm such a crossword klutz! I always start off full of grit and determination, but I always end up giving up before I can finish it. I was not born to be good at crossword puzzles, I guess."
